A Mad HalloweenOur tale begins on a cold autumn night, when the ghosts and ghouls come out to play, when gruesome, ghastly creatures slink out from the depths of the underworld to relish in one night of freedom and abandon, haunting the living and cavorting with their fellow undead.  A night when you feel chills go up your spin and you cannot say why, when you feel watching eyes upon you as you walk through streets bathed in moonlight, where pumpkins flash eerie grins and cobwebs cover all like a macabre version of snow.   
 
In other words, it was Halloween, and the author is trying to channel her inner Edgar Allen Poe to set the a A Mad Halloween

Monster under the bedLogically, I know it's completely ridiculous.  I'm an adult, far past the age when I should be afraid of monsters in the closet and things that go bump in the night.  I'm old enough to know that the world holds many horrors, but goblins and ghoulies aren't amongst them.   
 
Yet every night I still leap into bed, refusing to simply climb onto it like a normal, sane person.  I've done so since I was a child, when I believed that a hand would reach out to grab me if I stood too close.   
 
I know there's nothing under my bed.  I've looked in the daylight hours, and I know for Monster under the bed

All right kids, gather 'round

Right, here's the deal, and in no particular order. First off, Happy Halloween to everyone. New stuff for the occasion over to your left there, enjoy.

Secondly, no more word on the plagiarist. I'm starting to think there will be no word. Which sucks, but I just don't have the energy to waste worrying about that loser.

Thirdly, and most importantly: I think I've mentioned already that I'm going to be doing National Novel Writing Month again this year. Which means I'm going to be away for a while. Wait, don't go! You know I love you, right? You're awesome, baby, you're the best, don't look at me like that! She means nothing to me! It's just a long-standing date we've had these past few years!

Ahem. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Seriously though, I'll check in here every once in a while to see if I have any messages or anything. But there won't be any new fiction or anything until November is over or I finish my novel, whichever comes first. Possibly not even if I finish early, just because I'll probably be a shell of my former self by the time this is done.

Basically, just don't be worried if I'm quiet, and hopefully I'll see you all in December.
